How to Make the Most of your Flying Experience: 5 Tips

With smaller seats, cramped leg room, to additional charges for luggage and snacks, flying has significantly changed in the last couple of decades. But that doesn’t really mean that you cannot enjoy your flying experience. We have collected some handy tips to help you enjoy the experience of flying in the glamorous skies.

With the increasing demand for more affordable flying experience, the quality of flying has deteriorated over the past couple of decades. While the flying experience was known to be an experience of a lifetime in the past, it has now turned into just another mode of transport like roads and rails. But that doesn’t really mean that you just need to endure the air travel and pray for the flight to reach your destination as soon as possible.

No matter if you have picked the cheapest air tickets, there are a number of handy tips that can assure you an enjoyable flying experience; five such tips are mentioned below-

  1. Carry a Travel Pillow

When you are on a long-haul flight, a good travel pillow can make a world of a difference. While a lot of airlines do offer cushions in the cabin, they are usually thin, flat, and easily slip behind the head when you try to sleep. Look for a pillow that is exclusively designed for air travel as it will offer Hyderabad to Dubai flights and excellent neck support throughout the time you sleep in the flight. There are also inflatable pillows which you can pick if you want more room in your hand baggage.

  1. Move the Seats

A lot of times several seats and even entire rows are empty on flights. Needless to say, four seats would surely be way better than just one. Simply lift the armrest of the seats, and you could have yourself a comfortable bed for the journey. If you see there are empty seats in the cabin, politely ask the attendant if you can shift. If you are in luck and the attendant is kind enough, your Economy ticket might even be upgraded to First class for free.

  1. Buy good Earplugs or Headphones

Several factors can hamper your peaceful flying experience. Be it the noise of the flight’s engine, chatty neighbour, or a crying baby; you need to make sure that you are prepared for these scenarios. If you love music, buy a pair of good quality headphones and listen to your favourite music. If you just want silence, buy some nice earplugs to keep the noise away.

  1. Select the Seats Wisely

Be it a low-cost Air Asia flight or premium Thai Airways flight, selection of seats plays a very important role in the level of comfort you experience throughout the flight. Pick window seats if you do not want your neighbours to scramble over you now and then to visit the toilet. Go for the aisle seat if you need to visit the toilet frequently. Also, while exit row seats are popular for their leg room, the seats in these rows usually do not recline. A better option is to go for the row behind the exit row as you’ll not have anyone reclining their seats on your face. If it is a big flight like an Airbus, try and select seats in the front to avoid delays in de-boarding the flight when it lands.

  1. Stay Hydrated

The cabin air is dry and can easily lead to a parched feeling during long flights. Drying out of the nasal passage, chapping lips, and skin feeling papery are not the things that you’d like to experience on the flight, right? So, stay hydrated throughout the journey and these problems can be easily avoided. And don’t try to replace water with alcohol or coffee as they will only make you more dehydrated.

While air travel has changed considerably, you can still experience a comfortable and exciting journey with the help of the tips mentioned above.
